Large volume tanks are often used in the petroleum and chemical industries, as well as in agriculture, food production and drinking water distribution. They are also used in wastewater treatment systems and biogas production.

There are several types of large volume tanks
- Cylindrical tanks : These are the most common and are generally barrel-shaped. They can be vertical or horizontal and are often used to store liquids.
- Underground tanks : They are buried underground and are generally used to store large quantities of liquids, such as water or oil.
